Moscow City Health Department holds awareness-raising events for the All-Russian Day of Sobriety.
The first celebration of Sobriety Day took place in Russia in 1911 in St. Petersburg under the slogan “Sobriety is the happiness of the people!”. The holiday was founded on the initiative of the enlightened public and the Russian Orthodox Church, concerned about the loss of sobering traditions in Russian society. On that day, state-owned wine shops were closed, and the sale of alcohol was prohibited. The tradition was resumed in 2005, and in 2014 the holiday was given the status of All-Russian. Sobriety Day will mark 108 years in 2019.
September 11 is the All-Russian Day of Sobriety. This is a celebration of a healthy lifestyle, traditional family values and spiritual and moral development of the person.
In the medical organizations of the state healthcare system of the city of Moscow that provide primary health care to the population, from September 10, 2019 to September 14, 2019 there will be health schools and thematic lectures for the population.
