International Day for Ear and Hearing Health, endorsed by the World Health Organization, is celebrated March 3 annually. Hearing loss is considered the most common sensory disability in the world. According to WHO, approximately 360 million people suffer from deafness and hearing impairment. The causes of hearing loss can be many factors - genetic disorders, chronic infections of the ear, rubella, measles, mumps, meningitis, as well as the effects of certain medications and harmful environmental factors, especially noise.
The purpose of the action is to inform the public about the factors that lead to hearing loss, measures to prevent hearing diseases.
