World Hepatitis Day was first celebrated on May 19, 2008
In 2011, representatives of the World Health Assembly decided to postpone the date of the event to July 28, coinciding with the memory of the doctor Baruch Samuel Blumberg, who discovered the hepatitis B virus and studied its pathological effect on the liver.

From July 22 to July 27, 2019, medical lectures on the prevention of viral hepatitis in the Health Centers and medical prevention departments (offices) were organized at the medical organizations of the state healthcare system of the city of Moscow
On July 25, 2019, a School for patients with chronic viral hepatitis was organized for patients.
